What is a NoFollow Link Worth?

Everyone wants “DoFollow” links. They are nice and they will pass page rank, but does that mean that “NoFollow” links are worthless? In my book a link is a link. Any link is a vote for your website. Before I continue on, I do want to note that the views stated are my own and may not be the official views of Google. I am basing this article on my personal observations, experiences, and theories. Now back to my thoughts. Google in some respects regrets their part in the whole “NoFollow” trend. It enabled website owners to direct how and where page rank was being passed.
With more and more webmasters and search engine optimization firms implementing the NoFollow attribute, this had the potential to harm the Google search algorithm. Websites that were worthy of receiving a link were starting to be NoFollowed. With links playing such an important role in the algorithm, Google probably had to rethink their strategy a bit. I believe that NoFollow links do give some power to the website that they link to, but the amount of juice will vary based on the linking website. That juice won’t come in the form of Page Rank, which I feel is nearly worthless today, but in the form of Trust Rank. Google pays close attention to who are credible link sources. Some web directories are respected in Google’s eyes, while others don’t offer any real value. The same goes for other websites. Websites with larger followings, high quality content, and links pointing to them from other highly respected websites will have more trust than a website that was put up on the web yesterday. Google does state that they may not follow “NoFollow” links or pass the anchor text. Either way, I would rather have a link and the potential trust rank it could provide.
So to answer the question, “What is a NoFollow Link Worth?”, priceless if the trust rank passed helps you achieve top rankings!
